Hi -- made the move to a country home 12 months ago and became a lurker on this forum. Love the outdoors: chopping wood, etc., but less skilled in DIY. My first post.
Our wood-stove insert seems very old, but it passed the home inspection and worked well. But a few days ago the fan stopped working -- i.e., nothing happens when I turn the speed-control on. I removed the cover. Used a voltage "sniffer" -- there seems to be power both before and after the speed control (on one wire; the other had no power before or after, but I assume that's a quirk of AC / sniffers). But that's about the limit of my electrical know-how.
I'm unsure of the stove manufacturer. The house is 40-45 years old, outside of Toronto. I posted some photos here. Appreciate any help with:

- Should I try to get the exact replacement motor? I mean, could you just blow air in the hole from anything similar?
- Also, most replacement blower motors are pricey? Anyone know why? Amazon sells motors for bathroom fans for $13, but blower fan kits are well over $100. To do with a special heat rating, perhaps?
- Any idea what brand of wood stove this is? I assume "Underwriters Laboratories of Canada" is the original inspector; perhaps they manufactured stoves. Have Googled most of the terms on this and cannot find much beyond the UL as a standards setter.
