Removed and cleaned both of the fans in the pellet stove that is.
Dirty job but someone's gotta do it. The room air fan
I took out to the shop and blew it out with compressed air.
The combustion fan I scraped with a flat screwdriver in
the hard to reach spots, and used a toothbrush in the easy
to reach areas. Used a putty knife to clean out the recessed
area in the stove where the combustion fan sits. Used the
drywall vac to clean it all up.

She's all back together clean as a whistle and running ace!
(Sorry no pics. Didn't want to touch my camera with filthy hands)

Moral of my story is, if you do your own maintenance, have run
a few tons or more through your stove, and haven't done so yet,
pull those fans and clean them out. The cleaner you keep em
the longer they will last - I've been told anyway.

great job
I wish everyone would do this before they post a post saying there stove is not burning correctly

Do that every season on all of our stoves.

just did this last night before the dealer came for my exhaust blower change out

Yes, a necessary evil that operators manual tend to gloss over, if mentioned at all. Good job.

Oh and I forgot to mention, if you've never done
this before I strongly recommend wearing a mask.
Lots of soot and can't be good for the lungs.

Also, if you don't like getting your hands dirty you
may want to wear surgical type gloves. My hands
were black as coal by the time I was done.

Good idea to label the wires too so you know where they
go when you re-install the fans.

All you New England people who haven't yet done this I'd get on it.
Much colder weather on the horizon for us. (broken image removed)
