I have observed both in operation.
I believe the Pro series has a stainless firebox.
The Elite XT is the Elite indoor boiler with additional insulation and an outer weathertight shell.
The new Elites have a stainless liner or firebox. I don't know about the XT.
Available sizes, doors, water volume, etc are different between the two.

I do not mind some one asking. just so you know I had a empire elite 200 stove. to start off I had a condensation problem between the front cover doors and fire box doors. the secondary chamber refractory bricks started cracking around the second month of use. by the end of the season the bricks just crumbled. the secondary chamber door refractory cracked too. then it only took pro fab two try's to get the right one to me the " run / load " lever would stick so bad that it was almost impossible to open. there is not enough room on the back of the stove for pumps and ball valves. then you have the supper high stack temp. lack of proper insulation on the roof and sides. I never had a day where I had snow on the roof it would all melt off. the last thing I can think off is the air passage to the secondary air out let. it would pack full of dried creosote and block it off. I ended up cleaning it out three time in one year. the first time it took me 2 hours to clean it out, I was then able to do it in 1.5 hours after that. you have to do it while the stove is hot so things are a little more flexible. the only good thing on the new stove is the stainless steal firebox. but all the other changes are for the worse. no one at pro fab would help me or my dealer.
