I am so pleased with myself (pat-on-the-back pleased!) that I just thought I would share with anyone interested you CAN repair your dishwasher yourself.
There are two websites that helped me immensely:
Parts here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/
Question forum here: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/
While I did not pose any questions on the above forum, their search feature worked very well for me.
My problem was re-distributed food debris deposited inside/outside of glassware on the top shelf. As it turned out I had a bad upper spray arm and a clogged filter. Replacing those two parts (from Sears) at a cost of around $80 was less than the cost just to have a repairman come to the house.
Just thought I would pass along this info.
