Not for this season, but next season I want to get 4 tons delivered at once and be done with it.Called depot, but nobody seems to know nothing. And if not, for those who has them delivered, know of anyone that does? I live in Ulster County NY.

Yes they do. Typically it is about $65 per delivery, not ton.

Thanks Tim and Sinnian. I sent wood pellets an email to find out what they would charge. But if depot sells for $220 a ton and delivers for $65 that would be tough to match, or even come close.

I buy my pellets at Home Depot every season and always pay $65 for the delivery. They'll charge the same for delivery whether they're bringing you one ton or five.

Home depot is hard to beat since most of those stores sell the pellets at 229.00 ton and delivery is 60-70 bucks for the whole load.
that said, pellet quality is another story as they tend to sell the lower end pellets.. BUT, That's not to say it's all junk.
I liked Stove Chows well enough to buy 2 tons this past winter. [Baged by Energex in Pa,] lotta Ash but pretty good heat ... some of those popular TOP OF THE HEAP pellets at 300.00 ton or so are greater BTU's but due to small pellet size burn faster than a fireworks factory so no savings there...,but I digress..... yes... delivery available at HD don't know about Loews...
note:
not sure about this but HD truck or trailer rental for 4 hrs or so may be less?

The pellets I use cost $300 per ton and are worth every penny. I can heat 1800 sqft on 1 bag per day all winter long.

See my signature line.

I was only tyring to point out that sometimes, the more expensive pellets are worth the price.

Deff agree with you...
the prob is which exspensive pellets are worth it...
I would love to try them all but depending on the region you live in, brands are limited..
Okanagan....
read lot of good reviews on them....
don't think they sell any where near Pa...
that said, I pay 250.00 ton for 4 tons Energex premium hardwoods from my dealer. Occasionally will get Stove Chows at HD for 229.00 ton. but this year I ordered xtra 1 ton of Energex Golden Nugget premiums at 270.00 ton.. 8700 BTU and almost no ash so will see if the sales pitch holds up..

Hmmm !! Hold on a moment ! Lowes and Home Depot will deliver...... here is the low down, 1 - 2 tones ..... there is a fee for delivery from both, but if you order / buy 3 tones or more at once from either store, the delivery is free .... yes, that's right, FREE ! I know, as I had free delivery on the 3 tones from Lowes and the 3 tones from HD late last year.

I am a rookie pellet burner. I just installed a harman p 61 in my 2600 sq ft house, (heating 2400 sq ft with stove)I am burning box store pellets because thats all I could get my hands on. When it gets real cold out, like it will tonight, I have to max my stove to keep it warm in my house. If I buy better quality pellets next year should I have an easier time heating? Any recommendations, I don't mind spending a few more bucks, I am already saving so much money not burning oil I may be able to send my kids to Harvard.

My 2 cents on the quality of pellets thing. For me, it seems to be no big deal, but only because of the way I run the stove. I have a Quadrafire Santa Fe, clean the box and pot twice a day. Total of six minutes. Once a week a more thorough cleaning which includes removing the baffles. I have no problems anymore, the key seems to be good air flow throughout the system.

HD delivered my 4 tons before the season started. Fee was $65 regardless of how many tons I ordered.

for the BBS purchases, is there a particular time of the year (spring/Summer/Fall) or does it really matter? I'm guessing the price is all the same no matter what time and the particular brand of pellet is the crap shoot (no pun intended)?

That definitely depends upon where you live. I had 5 ton delivered from Home Depot and paid $65.00 for the delivery.

It really depends upon who you're asking. The people spending $350.00 or more for a ton of pellets swear by them and swear nothing burns hotter. Others don't believe that. I will always buy whatever I can get at Lowes or Home Depot for around $220.00 per ton and then use my 10% off coupon to get almost a free ton with the savings. Given you have a Harman, you should be able to burn whatever you feel like burning in it.

where do you get the coupon? Thanks

Hard to beat the price at HD and Lowe's. I have used both of them with good results. I do have a Harman and can and will burn anything. FSU's keeping the place a toasty 73.6 with it 12 out with the wind tonight.

Which HD and Lowes in Maine are you talking about? That would be nice to get free delivery!

During our pellet shortage, one day my local HD had Blazers from Oregon for $4.18 a bag! Great DF pellet with almost no ash. I wish I could order 6 tons of those for next season. But, FSUs which are more likely given what I've seen this year have been hot, but ashy. Good enough, but those Blazers were something.
