Do the new SootEaters only come with the black poles? or with original white poles?

I snapped off another one today. I think I had torque setting too high on my cordless drill and rotary piece may have snagged somewhere up near cap.

The white rods seem to be a lot more durable. The black one broke off in an instant like the one two years ago. I only need about 1 foot of a black rod to get into cap. I'll just be more careful next year. I didn't take a picture but may one-two cups of the light brown dry crusty creosote. I'm fine with that. Nothing even close to dark or glazed.

i would wonder if the "Wires" are sized right? i wouldnt think they should be twinging apart based on the times i used mine. The strings do need trimmed to match your flue size, usually not ready to go out of the box.

Are you using the black or white poles? The white poles seem far more flexible.

A straight up run as well at about 20-21 feet. The string are perfect fit for my flue. I'm thinking when it got up into cap it momentarily bound up somehow.

i have all black rods, use it at my house and my in laws twice a year each..... no issues.

I like the product... I'm just gonna see if I can track down a kit with the white rods. I've never had issues with those in 4 years. My original kit had just the white rods and the extension product only came with the black ones. They are obviously made differently. I don't believe the white ones are hollow either.

I may have to check that out if they no longer include with woodstove kits.

Here is an old promo video showing the white rods for woodstove kit.

Yeah mine came with the black rods. Things flopping around pounded the crap out of my liner. I went back to using a brush. I can brush both liners in the time it takes to snap and unsnap the dang rods for one. Without the drama.

If I didn't have a 12/12 metal roof I might try with a brush from the top but I haven't even been up there since a new standing metal seam roof was installed two years ago and I'm not very good with heights as is.

I hear ya. I wouldn't go up there either.

Nope Nope Nope, I'm a General Contractor and hire roofers for anything over 10/12, especially with the standing seam, thats a GD sliding board.
