My little tale is that I just bought (new) a Bacharach Fyrite (analog) combustion tester kit for setting up my oil boiler. It included a big draft gauge that I promptly dropped from a height of 3' to the concrete floor. Although it still works, the front half of the case(replaceable) is totally broken, and the rear half (non-replaceable) has an 'ear' broken off. I ordered the front and will glue on the back. The plastic is like Bakelite, without the durability. The entire kit is truly old school.

The reason I got the old school kit vs. digital, is that the digital meters' sensors wear out, so you have to replace them and get it calibrated once a year. The sensors are expensive. It pays if you're doing it for a living, I guess.

This new meter's case is a casting-aluminum I think, since it's not magnetic.
