Eko dealers in Ontario, Canada

Hey Boilers,

I've been reading on this sight for the last week just soaking up all the good info here!!

Anyway I'm finding it hard to locate a dealer for Eko in Ontario. I've found one in northern/central NY and am willing to travel to pick it up but would prefer to get one closer to home for warrenty and such.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Rob,

I picked up two brochures at the International Plowing Match last Fall. The two names I have are:

Brian Dejon (613) 926-0166
Listed as in or near Dunvegan, ON

The other is Ken Herman (450) 451-8818 or (800) 559-1550
No location listed.

I have seen some discussion on this forum about Ken claiming to have CSA certifications on the boilers he is importing, but that he is unwilling or unable to show evidence of the certification. Caveat Emptor and such.

Hi Canuck

There is a new dealer located in Markdale. His name is Dan Dmytryshym and his phone number is 1 519 986 1991. I spoke with him over the phone last month, he has a eko up and running if you want to see it. I was going to look at his set up but other commitments interfered with the appointment.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick reply!

I stumbled across Dan's phone number in another thread, talked to him on the phone this morning, very helpful conversation. Anyway the nuts and bolts of it is no CSA cert. but Zenon from New Horizons in the states is working on it apparently with the UL cert.

I'm still likely to go with the Eko 25 or the 40 depending on a heat loss calc.

Canuck, I just purchased an EKO 40 from Brian DeJong he is a few miles north of the 401 east of Brockville. Where in Ontario are you located?

That's great news I'm just west of Kingston in btween Odessa and Napanee.
How was he to deal with? What was the price if you don't mind me asking?
You can PM me if you want our just post here, i just want to compare with another dealer.
I think I'm def going with the 40 myself based on my heating and DHW needs.
Have you started the install yet? Do you have someone doing it for you or is it a DYI project?
Anyway lots of questions but I'm purchasing very soon to be able to have everything up and running before winter.

Brian was great to deal with. I paid $6900.00 before tax, but if your going to buy one I wouldn't wait too long I believe they will be going up in price. Brian lives less than 10 KMs from me so it only made sense to buy from him.

I just picked my 40 up a little over a week ago and have only managed to find the time to locate in the out building where it will stay. I also made up a stand for it so
it would be at a comfortable height for loading.
Will you require underground insulated pipe? There is a guy in Spencerville that sells the Uponer insulated pipe reasonabley priced. He sells alot of pipe and has end cuts of various lengths and sizes.

Everything you need within 20 kms of each other.

I really appreciate the quick response!!
Right now I'm about 90% sure I'll be installing inside the house, although I could build an out building so I can consider buffer storage in the future. Problem is my house is ranch style no basement concrete floors with radiant heat. That of course would make the underground thing hard to do. Any thoughts on what my options would be for outside install? Its going to be a closed system anyway so what about glycol filled for outside use and run the insulated lines through the wall to the inside?
Are you putting yours outside for any particular reason?
Ya I'll def be taking advantage of the current pricing and I'll want to get it installed very soon.
Are you installing yourself?

Yes I am doing the install myself and am installing outside because my house is 160+ years therefor not much room in the basement. I also plan on heating my workshop which is not attached to the house as well as a hot tub. The house is currently heated by a wood stove in the family room and a forced air oil furnace (ouch).

I will have a primary loop in the workshop and will pump to the house and hot tub from there. As for glycol I think I am going to play it safe so I will use it in my system.

I am very green when it comes to the hydronic heating lots to learn yet, but thanks to this forum there is lots of experienced people to guide me when I am stumped.

let me know when if you are buying from Brain and maybe we can meet up and discuss some options, like I said I am not far from Brian.

Hey Dakota,

I left a voice mail at his number, i'll try him again early in the week.
Ya I'll def contact you when I goto purchase the unit. I did get a response from Zenon from New Horizons in the states( he imports from Poland). He said a Eko 25 will handle my heating needs, my current heat and DHW are being supplied by an oil fired hot water tank 32 gal. I guess I'll see what Brian has to say when I talk with him.

Rob, that is the correct number. If you can't get him on the phone I can stop by and tell him to call you I am by his house several times a week. I do know he is a busy guy he farms and has a small constuction business as well.

He did have a 25 in stock when I picked mine up.

Doing the same shopping you guys are... I'm near Cambridge. Was thinking Tarm but then looked at a PSG combination furnace out of Quebec (like the price but not the wood in the house again or the insurance co. hassles) Like what I've seem of the EKO but if they don't have CSA certification what are the insurance implications?

Hey Applewod,

I guess if the thought of wood in your house or the insurance hassles are a negative you could consider an out building for the eko. With the installation its treated as an unlisted wood burning device, bigger setbacks, dont have the numbers. I'm not too worried though.

Try New Horizons website, just google wood boiler gasification and I'm sure it'll come up. Zenon is the owner and he imports from Poland. He'll direct you to the closest dealer near you. Hope this helps.
