Electric motor won't engage on Bilt-Hard splitter

One poster suggested replacing the hydraulic oil with ATF. That is a good suggestion. My splitter's (gas) documentation recommended hydraulic oil unless I was going to be splitting below 40F. If it was going to be used below 40F, the manul said to use ATF instead so that is what I went with.
Spend the extra few bucks and get synthetic ATF

I have a gallon of that sitting on the shelf. Thanks
I know you don't see these temps but it's 44 below F here this morning, synthetic makes the difference at these temps.

Shortly after i posted yesterday our power went down for 6 hours...
Fun times
Luckily i have a bunch of light tower's that have 8KW generators.
Took about 1/2 hour with a propane torch to get it warm enough to fire up. Then needed to find fuel for it as all gas stations

Some of our gas stations installed generators after our post tropical storm a few hears back. I try to keep my JeepGC tank half full also as I don't like storing huge amounts of gas

I got caught in April here. I don't store much gas around here any more as my mower and side by side are both diesels. It was fifty degrees one day and twenty degrees the next day with a foot of snow and blizzard conditions. Normally we don't lose power here as everything around here is buried. Power went out around ten in the morning. My 13k gen set is gas. It only had about eight gallons in its twenty gallon tank. It burns about a gallon an hour. Finally about four in the afternoon I headed to town with a tank in the pickup to get gas and of course the stations close were out of power also. I had to go all the way into the city to find gas. Got gas and made it back home it was a groan of a trip. We were out for three days. Folks west of me were the lines are not buried were out for two weeks a bunch of poles down over that way. I really need to spend the money and buy a diesel gen set.
