Electricity costs for Pellet Stoves.

I was at a dealer yesterday, and I asked about the increase in my electric bill for using a pellet stove.
The quick answer I got was about $12.00 extra per month. (Harmon Accentra & XXV).
I know there are variables regarding this, but I'm wondering about it.
What are you folks seeing in your electric bill?

If I use my stove and the little fan I use to circulate the
warm air 24/7 in a given month my electric bill is approx. $30 dollars more.

My furnace is hot water baseboard heat so I can see why
burning the pellet stove plus the small fan would use more electricity.

most stoves have about 300 to 400 watts of electronics Plus the 300 to 400 watt ignitor that will only run for 10 minutes

The best way to tell is to connect a amp meter loop over you hot wire in the stove and see how many amps it draws after start up.

Amps x Volts = Watts

You could add up the Amp rating on each blower and auger motor
but the auger motor does not run all the time.

Beleive it or not, my bill went down a little when we got the stove.
Not sure why, but guessing that my furnace blower/fan takes more
juice than the pellet stove does.

My bill went down slightly as well. The blower for the furnace used a decent amount of electricity.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

That looks like a pretty handy little gizmo to have around the house... I often wonder how much electricity something is drawing and don't feel like going through the hassle to throw a meter on it. I'll have to order one of these.

I was thinking of getting one to check my older appliances (refrig, washer, dryer, etc) to see when it's time to update to a newer more energy efficient model....and check the pellet stove too!

My electricity went up around $20/month. Although, I can contribute some of that to other things using electricity in the winter such as electric heaters in my basement. Also, my upstairs furnace runs which also might cause some increase. So the amount attributed to the pellet stove is probably negligible.
