Douglas Squirrels are very entertaining. They're very busy and often very vocal. They outnumber the gray squirrels in my neighborhood but the grays usually dominate the feeder when I fill it. This little Douglas has been busy all morning running back and forth between the feeder and two different caches. He gave me a strong scolding when I went to peek at one of his hiding spots at the base of a stump.

In the first picture what is he sitting on
Take a look at the hole or door below him .
It looks like a face hidden in the back !!
 
He's on a stack of firewood that has a sheet of plywood giving it. There's an ugly chunk of wood weighing down the ply.
