enviro mini first burn problems HELP!

so I fired up the mini last night, started up nice then the fire could not keep up with the pellets coming out so the fire in the box was huge made me nervous. I had it set on the lowest feed rate, the unit doesn't need clean because this is the 1st burn. the pellets I used were county boy white lightning(all oak), I wasn't sure if these pellets were too high grade or not or even if that's a possibility
any input would be greatly appreciated

On start up, the stove feeds drops/feeds more pellets regardless of the setting. This is to make sure the stove has enough pellets for startup. After that period, it feeds pellets according to the feed level.

Not sure if this is what you mean when you write "could not keep up with the pellets." If the pellets begin to pile up in the basket then you have a problem and you have to look at the exhaust setup, door seals, and motors. But it doesn't sound like it because you describe the fire as huge.

theres way to many pellets feeding out which makes the fire huge it fills the entire glass with fire , I have the auger trim set to the lowest setting

ok I start the mini its pre programmed to a specific feed rate on start up , igniter lights pellets , the fire is gradually getting bigger and bigger until the whole fire box is filled with fire and a heaping pile of pellets (the pellets are country boy white lighning very high quality all oak pellets) I have the auger trim set to the lowest feed rate and still I have a massive fire any ideas?

Sounds like you have a new stove. Something is not right, call the dealer and have them come out to take a look. I wouldn't use it until it's fixed.

How long did you let the stove run after start up. Like vinny was saying the stove will continue feeding pellets until it reaches start up temperature. There is a sensor that tells the stove, ok we have fire, go to normal cycle. At that point it should switch to the pre selected mode.

If you didn't let it run at least 20-30 minutes for its start up, that's the problem... If generally goes full bore to get the initial flame on start up then calms right down. My flames hit my heat exchanger.. not a big deal.

I heard the stove switch to low mode after burning a while prob about 30 mins or so , also is there any danger with having that much fire in the box

Take some photos and post em if you're really concerned. I know when they installed mine and ran it full
power it made me nervous at first. But the benefit was they were there to say no that's normal.

White Lightning pellets seem to burn with a higher flame in my stove also a higher btu per pound than a lot of pellets on the market. (My favorite pellet this year)
A half hour or better from startup to getting the flame established is normal for most stoves they will usually settle down in about 45 minutes.

Ok I think the people who sold me the stove put the wrong auger motor in the mini. The tag says it's a Gleason Avery model #904-2520-a1506t-666

Wouldn't that be a 3-4 rpm motor ?

According to Gleason Avery's website that indeed is a 4 rpm motor. The 904 means it's a 900 series motor that turns at 4 rpm. If this is a new stove I would want to know why the wrong motor is in there. Either the wrong motor was put in at the factory, or the dealer did some parts switching at some point. The correct motor should be the 901 or equivalent running clockwise, note the 901R runs counter clockwise. Was this stove purchased new from a dealer, or used? Me thinks someone has some explaining to do. That could be the issue. Does the motor say 3-4 rpm on it? How did you get the model number? Is there a link to the specs (I tried looking it up but was unsuccessful), the Mountainview Stove parts website does say 1 rpm for the auger:

Is this a brand new stove from a dealer? Have you called them? The manual referenced above is for the models from July 17, 2010 to present so check your stove number to make sure you have the correct PDF technical manual.

Also, when you start it up, how long do you let it run for?

page 7 tells you how often the auger turns at the different settings. See if they match up to your stove.

ok I bought the stove at an auction never used 08 model for $700. the dealer went out of business a few years before and was auctioning old inventory off, im guessing they took parts from this stove for a customers and when they went to auction the stoves off they put what ever they had laying around. im going to buy the correct gleason avery motor and see how that goes , I got the model number off of the auger motor tag

that sucks. still a good deal if that is the only thing you have to change. make sure you go to the Enviro website, find the correct owners manual, and get the correct motor. contact them if you have to.

you can list the other motor on ebay and make some money back.

All Enviro Mini stoves use a 1 RPM auger motor. With a 4 RPM motor in there it was feeding at 400% of the normal rate which would absolutely cause the problem you were having.
