Fairbanks AK
Hello everyone. I need to tap into everyone's wisdom here so any input would be greatly appreciated! Here is what I'm looking at. I live in Fairbanks AK. The Borough, of which I am a part, is in the beginning stages of studying the enforcement of wood burning regulations. I'll skip the long history associated with this issue!
The writing is on the wall for a ban on the old style outdoor wood boiler. My questionconcerns wood gasification boilers with storage. Is the EPA certifying any of these units or is it out of their realm? I would like to be involved in the crafting of the upcoming regs but I need to be much more informed! EPA wood stove requirements are fairly straight forward but there seems to be a great deal of gray area concerning stand alone gasification boilers with the addition of storage. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all!

The new EPA regs are in the work, Google "NSPS EPA Wood" and you'll get there. the testing protocol for the old regs were suspect, and the new ones will supposedly be better. others will chime in I'm sure, but right now the lack of agreed upon testing protocol make any regulations difficult. I'm not an expert on that end, but spend enough time talking to the experts to have formed the above opinion.
