Hello, We're brand new to hearth.com and woodheating. Took us a couple years to decide to take the plunge. We have been cutting wood since last summer in anticipation. Now to my question, We finally decided on a S2400 Regency with blower, pedestal ,and ash pan. It vents through a 6" thimble into a 9x13 external double brick flue that is 26' tall. It is located in a basement family room, is it realistic to hope for some heat to come up the stairs into the 1st floor area? Thanks alot.

It would all depend on how well insulated the basement is and how large of an area your basement is. The Regency's are great I love mine. I added a blower fan two seasons ago and I really noticed a difference in the amount of movement of the heat.
