Hello,
I'm considering an Explorer III wood stove and wondered since it was a top loader if it was a downdraft stove. I previously had an Avalon Arbor and it was a top loader. I like this feature, but it could be a little fussy at times to operate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good question. No it is not a downdraft stove. It will be much easier to operate. FWIW some folks don't use the top load feature at all. @webfish has run this stove for a couple seasons and posted some comments in past threads.
