Extended humid weather

in the northeast, at least, the humidity has been brutal. In the last 1.5 months I think we may have had one day with dew point under 70. Obviously this will change at some point but wonder if any other folks are curious how this will effect the wood drying.

It has been humid all summer here. Pretty awful, actually. 3 years ahead on the wood pile, so no worries here about drying.

" Me No Likey " About the only thing I get done is beer drinking , even walking the dog can be unbearable.

I do have a good amount of dry wood for this year set aside. Got to get back to three year plan though.

I hear you there, I don't remember a recent time in the last 10 or so years were we have had such prolong humidity and rain. But here's some food for thought, on July 16th I picked up a load a freshly cut live ash, I split it up and stacked it into my open air shed, I do have some decent checks forming so the wood is drying out, its just going pretty slow.

I have a good amount of red n rock oak for my 2nd and 3rd year.....since we have had all this rain n humidity....I wonder how much it will slow down the process.
This years wood will be fine....like said..concerned about 2 n 3.....

It was very dry here in late spring/early summer. I took the opportunity to bring some wood inside then and I'm grateful I did. I hope we have at least one or two dry weeks in September. It's been gooey lately...

It has been really rainy and hot but at the same time, we have been getting quite a bit of sun. Hot sun. Hoping that makes up for it.

It's always humid here in NY. This summer seems exceptionally hot though. I started out in the late spring getting all my stacks uncovered thinking they would season better during the summer fully exposed. With all the rain and humidity we've had this month, I just started recovering what I plan to burn this year instead of waiting closer to Fall.

I have done ZERO to prep for the winter. It is still super hot and I don't process or stack anything for the Summer. It can wait till Fall.

I have learned this summer I can work in hot temps as long as it's cloudy out. Otherwise I'm a big wuss in the heat. I'll take winter wood processing over summer any day.

As far as covering up the stacks early, I was just dreading my first fire having that hissing sound with rain soaked wood.

I’ve been having the same concerns. My 2 year stacks for this winter are not looking as dry as they should be, this summer has been well above average in temp, but the humidity has been killer. Luckily I have some 4 year red oak still lined up. Hopefully the humidity breaks and a dry fall to help out. Bring on the cooler air!

Also I usually have a pile of rounds stocked up by now, but this heat has kept me from doing anything.
