Face Shield or Mesh Screen

I was looking at getting another piece safety gear. A face shield....every once in a while I get chips and dust in my eyes and was wondering if the Mesh is the way to go, versus the Solid Plastic which I'm thinking may steam up. I wear Safety Goggles, and they just don't cut it

Mesh. No fogging problems.
You couldn't put goggles on my face I hate them that much. A few pair came with the Echo brush saw I bought and they went right into the trash with the wrapper still on them.

I also prefer the mesh style shield but I also use safety glasses for dust/small stuff protection. Also good for that one branch that gets under the shield!

Mesh . . . better air flow for cooling and fogging issues . . . not to mention mesh will never scratch up . . . and there's few things more aggravating than trying to look look a scratched up visor that makes things look blurry.

FYI, for US forest service work the requirement is safety glasses and the mesh screen. Chips do occasionally make if past the mesh and expect more then few folks forget to flip down the mesh on occasion. It doesn't bother me to use both. I have used flip down plastic shields for grinding and sanding and really don't recommend them.

I have pretty much the same thing made by Stihl. Easily the best $30 I have spent on wood cutting.

now everyone just wait a minute! one reminder---- if you chew tobacco don't forget to flip up the mesh screen way back in the day at forestry school some of us were really into chewing beechnut when the professors weren't looking and well yeah I forgot ..... what a mess!!

I agree mesh plus safety glasses, especially in environments with dusty, dead wood.
The drawback with safety eyeglasses is that they fog, but if you use only a mesh screen there is chance of dust getting in your eyes.

Another option for those that wear glasses - occupational prescription safety glasses. They have impact resistant lenses with side shields.

I cant stress enough the importance of eye protection. Trust me, I learned the hard way when I left everything at home once and figured I was fine for a day.

Lacerated cornea and eyelid, stitches in both. Stupid me.

Thats my boy Frisco (RIP).....Yorkie....lost him at 17 y/o......just one of those things I'll never get over, we had a special bond. Pups will come and go, but this boy will always have a place in my heart

I'm an eyeglass person - I just wear my regular glasses under my helmet/screen combo.

Got the Chaps and Steel Toe Boots......tried wearing the Safety Glasses that came with the saw, but they don't stay put.

I use my fire helmet with plastic face shield, it 8s very annoying when it fogs up. I just imagine I am felling trees in zero visibilty smoke for a fire break...

I do get chips come under the mask here and there so I concur with the glasses amd mesh combo.
