Hi All,

Received lots of help by reading all of the posts here, so I wanted to share my recent fireplace install. I ordered the Jotul C450 Kennebec two weeks ago, and will be installed tomorrow. In the meantime, here are some photos of the work we did on the fireplace itself.

It was an interesting L-shaped fireplace to begin with. Bricked in the short side, added a firewood nook on the side, and painted to match. This is in a 1955 ranch house, 2000 sq ft, in Portland, ME.

Looking forward to the first burn, tomorrow if all goes well!

wow, cool idea. Looks great

That is a pretty sweet setup that you done did.;)
I like the addition of the slab over the wood holder.

looking good!

Perfect modification with the bluestone slab on top!

Very clever, well done!

Looks good. I agree with Rudyjr you can't tell it was changed.

Yeah, I'm really pleased. The newly-added bricks have a bit of a different texture than the older ones, but it's probably one of those things that only I will ever notice.

Well, here she is. Working on my first break-in fire as we speak and couldn't be more excited!

Looks great with the new set up. Great idea to make a wood storage area right there too! Best of all, you've got a lot more heat in the room as opposed to going up the chimney!

Came out great!. Nice and clean looking. The bread from Bam Bam Bakery in Portland is worth the trip.
