I lost a large chunk of a big leaf maple in the corner of my yard yesterday. I'd rather not cut wood in this weather, but I didn't have much choice. It didn't take long to buck up this morning. The worst part was dragging all the branches out back by the burn pit. The way our weather has been, it might be December before I can burn all the limbs.

What was eating it??

Nothing. My best guess is that it's an old tree and our unusually dry and hot weather is putting a lot of stress on it. I've been noticing a lot of trees lately that don't look very good.
