Wasn't to many years ago I was up snowmobiling west of Duluth near Barnum. We stayed in a uninsulated one room remote cabin for a week. Never even got close to zero. It was a record setting stretch of below zero weather at the time. Only had a woodstove and it could not maintain anything over 50F. No electricity either. It was great fun!
On the other hand tomorrow I fly to Key Largo to disappear until mid Feb. Sunburn time

Didn't quite hit 100f myself...-11f outside now and 75 in the stove room. Had it up to 79 in there earlier but it was only -1 then. Supposed to get to -16 by morning here in central Wisconsin, hoping it doesn't get much colder than that!

Questions I also had. Short answer, it does very well. Take a look at this post of mine:

As for defrost, that works well too. With the heat "on" at whatever temperature desired, I also keep the windshield switch "on" with warm air blowing on the windshield. I haven't yet had to use the defrost to clear a heavily snow/ice load on the windshield, but I expect after normal scraping, that would work well too.

About 140 miles to the SW. Embarass has an enviable reputation. In 1996 my thermometer bottomed out at -49F three nights in a row. Our actual low was somewhere in the -50's. Those were the good old days.

Only 71 degree difference here in SE Michigan. It’s a balmy -1 outside this morning.

One night last winter was -30F and inside the house I think it was a night that i had an extremely high draft and the furnace decided to burn extra hot and it was almost 80 in here so that's a 110 degree difference. That was honestly the coldest temperature I had ever experienced in my 36 years!

Wow - and that's impressive to have inside 100 degrees warmer.

Got to (only) -4 here last week. We had snow/freezing rain then a sudden drop in temperature with wind. Last Sunday night heard a bang, I assumed a large branch hit the house, went outside twice to look around - nothing. Then found out there were many reports of big booms/bangs - they were from 'frost quakes'. Never experienced one in the almost 34 years I've been here.

That was the year my car overheated.
Ice in the radiator. Mixture set for -40f wasn't quite good enough.

to keep things consistent in this thread, it's -49*F here in NW Ontario this morning - I know you fellows in MN are under the same Arctic Air that we are. looks like some relief is on the way this weekend though - supposed to get up to around 5*F on the weekend, and then about a foot of snow over 48 hours. i'll take the snow! pretty done with this cold snap.

Well I wish I had your forecast for the weekend. Here in south east Michigan it will be creeping into the 40’s and rainy. So bizarre how it can go from -16 w/ -30 wind chill to 40 and rain within a couple days. Snow is money falling from the sky for me. Rain is just annoying.

My main weather station bottomed out at -31. So I used my backup outside sensor. Had to jump wife’s Honda with my dodge pickup and a booster pack. On the plus side the X27 can split ash like a hot knife through butter when it’s this cold
