Two tons down, and the first Baggie of my third (of four) ton just went screaming into the hopper. Seems like I am using more this year than last, and these wicked cold snaps may force me to grab an extra ton before the season is over. Any observations from others around the globe? Are you at your halfway point as well?

This is only my first year so I really didn't know what to expect as far as usage went. I'm in the same as you though. Maybe a little more than two tons down now. I have a Harman and with my feed rate on three and stove temp setting on three to four I burning two bags a day. Three bags a day on these single digit days. I bought six tons off the bat so I have plenty.

On bag 94

Bags 68 & 69 in the hopper. Lots more downstairs ;-)

Counted yesterday, burned 95, 90 left. My first season, so I was guesstimating my usage, but it's definitely colder this year.

225 down. Think I'll need another ton or two.

I received my 3 tons on 12/6/13 (bought the stove over Thanksgiving). I'm a third or more of the way through my second ton. It seemed like I was burning 3 bags a day during the cold snaps.

I'm burning more than I thought but except for the below zero nights the furnace is off.

I'm DEF up over the past few years. not sure of the exact count. I just about finished my over-flow pile. 3 bags left there. Then its down to regular storage area which holds about 2.5 tons

250 +- gone 200 left....gonna need some... I suspect I will burn between 10 and 11 tons

If your burning 10-11 tons, I would revisit the air sealing of your house. Sounds like your pumping heat to the skies and keeping the worms warm. Even when I was up in Oneonta the winters would not call for that much usage as you state, unless of course your home is an army style tent.

He's got a pellet boiler. That still seems like a lot though. I'm assuming that's heat and hot water for a full year?

If that is what a boiler goes through, you can keep it! He's talking for the season if he's following this thread's topic.

I've burned 155 bags so far; with 113 left for the rest of the season. I have no doubt I'll need more!

Wow! When I was buying a stove, I didn't think the P43 would be big enough for my 1800sq ft home. But I have only gone through 75 bags so far with my XXV. The oil hasn't been turned on yet.
Seems like I would have been fine with the P43. I love the way the XXV looks, but I could have bought a lot of pellets with that extra $900.

119 Bags so far. I didn't use as much this weekend due to the warmer temps.. I'm using more this year than last year.

I love my P43 and I seem to have the perfect airflow inside the house - no OAK - to provide for the heat moving 40 feet away from the stove, around a corner and upstairs to keep it a perfect 61 - 63 degrees for sleeping. Unfortunately I do not have a very well insulated home and even further unfortunately, I have done all I can to remedy that situation at this time. :(

About 110-120 bags down. Just bought a skid from Home Depot for backup. Just about every big box store in my area is out or real low on inventory. I still have just under 2 tons left before the Home Depot skid gets picked up and stashed.

Im at my halfway point as well. I've burned more this year than my past two years. Around 125 bags, Have others been above the norm, for pellet usage?

I have used 1.78 tons of pellets in my pellet boiler, supplying heating and hot water for 2,200 sqft @ ~68-72F with 5 adults.
I had previously said the pellet stove was the best home improvement we made, but with our first season with a pellet boiler, this is so much better.
I have noticed our house does not seem to suffer from low humidity as in previous years. I had installed a whole house humidifier which I have not had to use so far.
Not sure if it is just the way the weather is or do pellet stoves lower the humidity level?

The pellet stove itself should not dry the house out. It's how you have it set up. If you use an OAK, there should be no difference. If not it will dry your house out like a would stove would.

62 so far and did the "one ton cleaning" of the stove on Saturday. 3 tons of BF & Sets in reserve. Almost another ton of mixed bags, mostly SC.
Looking real hard for another ton of SC or FSU to get me out of 2013-14.

I do not have an OAK at the recommendation of my installer. My house gets very dry to the point that when I brush my collie, he is full of static! I have a pan of water on top of the stove to evaporate into the room.
