After years of heating with a Jotul 118, I installed the Bear when the 118 developed 2 cracks. (my fault)
Thanks to Coaly I installed new firebrick and a baffle which eliminates the whomp whomp whomp sound when too much draft is present. Now, the draft evens out quickly and a smooth burn occurs.
Here in Ohio temps have been in the 30's off and on and the Bear has really performed well and holds the heat longer than the Jotul due to the firebrick.
Looking forward to hearing your stories as the winter comes and goes.
Dave

Is that gasket material in the door?

Yes, it is gasket material. I put it in before Coaly told me it wasn't necessary in a Papa Bear. Thought I'd burn this winter with it in and make a decision later whether or not to remove it. It seems to be drawing fine with it in so far. The door closes and latches fine as well.
