Finally got the install done on my new Blaze King Sicorro 30 today and threw the first few logs in. This is my first wood stove of any kind. First impressions are man this thing can put off some heat even with a very small load of wood and the windows open to clear the burnt paint smell out of the basement, I can't wait for the temps to fall and to load this thing up! I also learned to have patience and let the the fire get going really well before closing it up and adjusting the thermostat. The lighting instructions of lighting the kindling and letting it burn, then adding some small logs and letting them burn, then filling the box seem drawn out. Does anyone load the firebox full then light it?

I think most of us BK guys and gals load it full, cold or hot stove, and let it do it's thing..
There's a learning curve, you'll get it, as to what your stove likes and does'nt..

I load it absolutely full and light it... a couple times a year. The rest of the year, I just open the door and toss some more wood in, because it's already lit!

Starting from cold, I'll start a nice little kindling fire just to make sure it's burning well, then make a layer of thinner pieces and let them burn well too...spend maybe 5-7 minutes on this. Then I'll load it up to the max.

Reason I do the small "base" fire is because I've loaded it up a few times, gone to light it, and fought to get it really burning well. With a small base fire with kindling and some thin pieces there is no fight. Could be 100% operator error, but it's a pain to light the fire when it is loaded and I'm fighting it.
