First scrounge

Over the last few days I was able to obtain a few truck loads of an unknown type of wood from my grandparent's property. It has been but down for about a year and a half but majority of it is in good shape still. A few of the bigger rounds were still pretty wet and hard to split as well as a few pretty knotty pieces. The rest seemed to go fairly easy with the X27. The smell from the splits is very nice however. Most of it was cut 20-22 inches which will be nice to burn in the oslo hopefully next year. I seem to have gotten just over a cord out of it. What made my day even better is that when I got home and was unloading my truck, the neighbor, whose step father owns a tree service said he has approximately 2 cords worth of maple rounds that he will be more than happy to drop at my splitting area. Hopefully this can be made into an ongoing occurrence and I won't have to worry much about looking for wood. Any how here are some pics, if you recognize this wood at all please chime in. Thanks

5 and 6 look like ash, not sure about the other.

That looks like it could be sassafras but I'm not 100% on that! doe the splits smell like root beer? Is there an orange color behind the bark?....

I don't know that it is so much of a root beer smell, def kinda sweet but more of a nutty "wood" type smell. Behind the bark is a white/cream type color.

All the pictures I see all the same wood --Ash.

I think the first photo looks like the bark of an Elm, and the last is a different wood than the rest. The thick bark and colorful sapwood makes me think that last piece is Sassafras. The middle four pics look like Ash.

The first pic looks like elm. The last looks like oak. The rest are Ash.
