Wondering what you guys get for flue temps with the cats engaged? Temp probe is 20" above stove. Engage cat at flue 600-650 and stove top at 450. Stove temp continues to climb, but flue temps decline to 450-500. Burning locust and cherry 16-18% moisture.

Sounds bout right to me. Cheers!

Yup, about the same.

That cat can be in the 2000 degree range and still have 400 degree internal flue temps. The deal is that the cat is eating up the junk and getting hot but not much flow is passing through it to carry that heat up the stack. Kinda like how you can put your hand above the burner on a gas cookstove.
