I kept expecting at any minute to see the paint can blow up, the "chimney" fall apart or the guy burn off his eye brows after lighting the starting fluid.

The best part -- the clotheshanger tying off the dryer duct "chimney."

I wouldn't feel safe burning this thing with the fire department in my driveway. I can't believe he not only built it and burned it, but also made a video to show off his incredibly irresponsible creation to everyone. My guess is he burns down his garage within a month. I hope not, but damn...this is stupid. He says the dryer vent is "insulated" at the plywood, but all I saw was some silicone. I just can't believe someone would do this and feel okay with it.

The really sad thing here is that this guy is sitting in his garage burning bits of scrap as he dinks around with whatever and will probably through luck get away with it - or at least if he doesn't, nobody who sees the video will ever know as I seriously doubt he'd make a video of the place burning down. So, some (perhaps many?) yahoo idiot(s) will take his 'design' as inspiration and decide to build his own to heat his home and now you have someone's family family at risk. Ahh, the power of the internet.

The rigid class-Z pipe (empty paint cans) should be cleaned with a section of class-y pipe (slightly smaller empty paint cans). With the flex liner, bearing in mind the related thread of metal brushes shortening the lifespan of liners, be sure to use only Oral-B chimney brushes (soft bristle works fine). This should extend the lifespan of your dryer vent to a full 72 hours.
