THIS WINTER SUCKS!!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE........
I WAIT ALL YEAR FOR TIS AND NOW ITS GONNA BE 50 AGAIN THIS WEEK!!!!!!!
GLOBAL WARMING PLEASE STOP EL NINO GO AWAY NAO GO BACK TO POSITIVE
Now that i have vented, the long term forecast does not look good for us
temps will be be above average but we will have a couple of quick cold spells but nothing like what New Engalnd is used to
Expect not to see any real snow with on the ground for another 3 weeks if not more(unless you are in northern ne)
boston should be getting snow today but will be gone just as fast\
freaking global warming go away
el nino get outta here
i want a very "bad" winter bring on the wind chillls and blizzards please i am so jealous of denver right now

Claremont, NH has about 3 inches on the ground. At least it's pretty.

I expect a foot of snow on opening day of golf season March 15.

I'm supposed to fly to Miami on 1/30. Should be a blizzard.

Just remember, December 2001 was one of the warmest on record. A week later, when the Pats beat the Raiders in the famous tuck rule playoff game, we ended up with well over 2' on the ground. We'll get ours. Eastern Colorado can't hog all of it.

I'm visiting family, my brother has an old Vigilant going 24/7. Burning a combo of hickory, oak and cherry. It's 31 right now outside of Poughkeepsie and overnight low is expected to be 20. No white stuff yet, but a fire is very welcome.

Time to move east.... Got about an inch and a half today. First time this year I saw my stove run on high most of the day.

Every few weeks I go out and fire up the snow blower just to make sure it will work.

Every time I do that, I fend off the snow for another few weeks.

I won't stop till May.

We got an inch here in Southern VT yesterday. But they're calling for an ice storm after midnight tonight for Vt and eastern NY in the Adirondacks. Gimme a blizzard over an ice storm anyday!

I didn't use the snowblower at all last year as I can't see firing it up for a lousy 4 inch snowfall, and I don't think I'll be needing it again this year either.

I have a neighbot that uses spray cans outside all winter. He says he wants beachfront property!

It started to snow yesterday but then turned to rain. This winter sucks. I talked to a friend who is in the firewood bis and he is pretty slow compared to last year.

Drove up from our house to visit some friends up in Manchester, NH yesterday afternoon. Trip usually takes 45-50 minutes, this time took closer to 1.5 hours. I've seldom seen so many people doing ditch dives and sheet metal work - seemed like there must have been dozens of them, one every 2-3 miles, at least. Lots seemed to be involving multiple vehicles as well. Didn't see any sign of people getting seriously hurt, but definitely some major vehicle reconfigurations.

It didn't even seem that slick to me, but I guess theres lots of folks forget how to drive on it.

One of the worst consequences of this warm weather- for me at least- is (potentially) losing a large part of our pellet supply to Europe. I heard that there are New England Pellet Manufacturer(s), as well as Canadian, that have too much supply sitting in their warehouses so they are going to (if not already) sell their product to Europe. We thought we had shortages in the past!

I sympathize with you MSG, we get 4-8 inches and you get 1-2-feet. But we have been cold, plus Red Burn Days. We get pressure inversions. Temperature at the ski resorts can be in the 40's and the valley is in the teens. Trapped air so foul, they warn people to stay indoors. Today's high looks to be 24 degrees. Hasn't been in the forties at my place for weeks. Even the very nice days have been 5-10 degrees below average.

For you East Coasters looks like the Jet Stream is going to shift soon. Get ready for the Calgary Express.

Here we tend to use the Montreal express, it's a little bit quicker. ;-)

It sure isn't the winter I was expecting here in WI this year. It was 50 yesterday, only in the 40's today. No sign of snow on the ground or in the near future.

It figures, I go and put the new insert in and everything warms up. Guess it's just like washing the truck to make it rain.

At least my bees are happy - big clouds out in front of each hive doing their "cleansing flights". They're just a bit puzzled by warm weather but no pollen or nectar sources.

(For those that aren't up on it, bees don't relieve themselves inside the hive - if the weather is to cold to fly (~50*F) they hold it until things warm up, at which point you get "cleansing flights" where they go out and strafe the neighboorhood)

Hey Goose I didn't know you tended bees. That's too cool. I used to also. How many hives have you been keeping? How are you dealing with the mites?

The last big el Nino that hit this area had our bees out on cleansing flights most of the winter. And by late February, we had our first swarm. Boy was I surprised by that one. That year we had several swarms, so you might get ready. When it's really warm the queen starts laying early and furiously.

BeGreen, sorry about your power situation. The Yakima valley got a bit of the wind too, very strong, and that was up and over the mountains. Can't imagine what it would have been like on your side. My lights were flickering last night, but no outage. Still, I took comfort at the warm glow of the stove thinking to myself that I would be ready if the power went out.

Hope you folks don't get too hammered tonight. Be safe.

-Kevin
