Also I've cleaned it with compressed air twice this yearHow old is the catalyst? It may be in decline, though a cat does not need to be glowing to be active.
No, no smoke at allIt should still be in good shape after a season and a half. Do you see smoke coming out of the chimney top when the cat temp is in the active zone?
Then it sounds like the cat is doing its job still. No, no smoke at all
OK thanks, didn't know it was working even if it's not glowing. Thanks for the infoThen it sounds like the cat is doing its job still.
700 is very low. Can you get your cat to 1100-1300? If not, it has an issue. My FPX has gone through 3 cats. I can only use steelcats at this point. Flame licking destroys the ceramic ones. When you engage the Cat, do the temp numbers climb by 3 -5 degrees? If it drops 50 plus degrees, like mine, it is clogged. Mine clogs every 2 months.
I have an OEM Ceramic for sale. It is untouched and brand new. I didn't bother putting it in play. I just switched over to this steel cat.

I vacuum the cat quickly whenever it is cold. So, if I come home from an 8 hour shift and the stove is cold enough, I quickly vacuum the cat and then stir up the coals and get it running again. With the draft of my chimney, steel is the only way to go.
