We gave up with the idea of shoving a wood stove into our double sided fireplace due to the sizing of the opening.

We have a vaulted ceiling in the room where we would put the stove. The ceiling is approximately 14' in the highest peak.

We are looking now at putting a free standing stove in the room to heat our house.

Any specific issues with running a straight pipe from the stove, through the vaulted ceiling? We are looking to place it about midway through the slope and there is no attic above.

I'm going to start pricing out installers soon as well. any idea on a ballpark figure including piping and such?

Thank you all.

No issues it is pretty common to install this way. You would transition to class a prefab chimney pipe at the ceiling. And with that long of a connector I would recommend double wall pipe

I am having a free standing installed in vaulted ceiling room on Saturday. Appx 15’ to where they are cutting though. Double walled pipe inside to roof connection, black outer/stainless inner as it is a bit cheaper then transition to double wall stainless outside. Not sure of code but here in the Northeast they use a 10+2 rule, once through the roof they extend the pipe up until they are 10 away from roof then add 2 feet on top.

The 3 2 10 rule is code nationwide.

Thank you all.

Snowman, I'm also in NH. Which area are you in? Any ballpark installation number?

Could you send me the installer's info if you're in the southern part of the state?

Bholler what is the 3 in the equation?

My I am on the Seacoast in Hampton falls, I am using The Firehouse stove shoppe in Epping on rt125. Ballpark on pipe and install is $2500 ish.

3 feet above where it exits the roof. Or 2 feet above anything within 10 feet which ever is greater.

One other thing to consider with vaulted ceilings is the heat rising. A truly radiant stove will heat the objects in the room and keep more of the heat down low not at the ceiling.
