Hi: I have a free standing propane heat stove that's vented through a conventional block chimney. I noticed while cleaning it that it has a three inch flexible sleeve running through it from top to bottom . I'd like to replace the stove with a wood burning one. Would I have to remove the sleeve? run a stove pipe?

Most wood stoves require a 6 inch flue; 3" won't be enough. When you have a masonry chimney you don't need stovepipe (or better: only until the wall thimble) but a full and preferably insulated stainless steel chimney liner sized for the stove you are installing. As Grisu stated, the chimneys are typically lined. The requirement for a wood stove exceeds what you have. They are typically 6" with the very large stoves using 8" and rated for solid fuel (wood). Insulated liner is the best solution if possible.
