Hi all,

I am a first time poster here but have been reading for quite some time. I have had an enviro E30 gas insert for 10 months. Every time I turn it on, there is an unpleasant smell for anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. After it heats up, the smell seems to dissipate. I have done a few longer burns (8 hours on high without the fan) to attempt to get thru any initial break-in. It does not give off any 'rotten-egg' smell, more of a chemical burning type of smell. It seems strange to me that this type of smell would persist this long. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks.

Have you removed the surround & looked at the top of the insert?
Is it clean? Sometimes stuff from the chimney can drop onto an insert.
Another issue could just be household dust, pet dander and hairs & anything
that has been sprayed in the house that can settle on it.
Those things will burn off, but it generally only takes one HOT fire.
It is unusual for the to occur EVERY TIME it's fired, if it continues,
call your installer before the warranty expires.
