My sister is thinking of installing a VC Intrepid (gas) stove. The desired place is in front of a window, but there is a forced hot air heating duct there ( about 4 inches by 8 inches) . Would this stove be able to go directly above this vent?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Anne

Forced air vents are typically placed at exterior cold air sources like large glass areas. I wouldn't like to have a vent directly under a stove. Options would be to relocate the vent or relocate the stove.

Does the stove has legs so it wont block the vent?

I can't think of any reason not to put it there as long as it wont be blocking it.

I don't believe the floor duct would be an issue, as it can be closed off...
Clearances to windows are another thing altogether...
What does the install manual say in the clearances section,
especially in reference to the vent cap?
Unless this is a vent-free unit, in which case I'm not gonna
say ANYTHING more...
