I would put it about 20 " above the stove top..just above the 18" recommend for flue temp gauge.mywaynow said:I have one but not installed yet. Best place is a couple feet above the stove? I have a 40 inch straight vertical pipe to a 90 degree elbow.
Todd said:Those splits look pretty large. I bet if you took half of that load and split them in half your stove temps would come up much quicker and the stove would throw much more heat. Maybe you need to burn smaller splits during the day for a hotter burn and save the large splits for the overnighters?

Thanks Pen and rdust.... I didn't see it....
I was trying to uplaod a new video of my secondary burn. They say light shows are for Rock concerts. But I can get a couple hrs of just secondary burn out of my stove. My vid is only 15 minutes. But it doesnt change. Stays constant. Still not finished uploading.
Taking forever! But Im surfing while waiting....
It's not you..in fact it's the epa that bugs me.oldspark said:"You may benefit from a flue damper..works for oldspark even though he gets upset when I say it’s “old schoolâ€..lol. "
The only reason that bothers me is it seems to suggest you do not need one at all any more and I believe that is not the case, now I am using mine only part of the time cause I trying to figure out the best way. I guess I am old school for the most part.
mywaynow said:Max temps have been 800 or just short of it. That has happened 2-3 times when the initial load went a bit too long before I closed down the primary. Today the house is 73 and it was 24 this morning. Full load in at 10 pm and had plenty to restart at 6 am. Loaded 2/3 full at 6 and it ran 450 with the blower on low, but it consumed most of the load in 4 hours, about 5-6 med splits. Primary was just inside the ash lip by an inch. I am going to load up again and shut off the fans to see if it can keep up now that the house is holding a good temp.
