Nice info. Though most of the descriptors seem "relative" to the authors opinion.

There is some interesting stuff there to learn though. And some species I haven't read much about also.:)
 
Some good info in there in the chart. But also a few mentions of "this burns best green" which makes me wonder...

Yeah I agree.

I noticed the phrase "useless green" used also.:eek:_g
 
"Cedar: This is a great wood that puts out a lot of lasting of heat."
"Douglas Fir: A poor fuel that produces little flame or heat."

Doug Fir is primo stuff around here. Cedar is good for kindling but almost nobody uses it for primary wood.
And of course, pine will dirty up your chimney. ;)

It seems to all have to do with utility for burning stuff you find in the woods in a portable backpacking stove. The observations about cedar, fir, etc make sense from that perspective.
