Got 2.6 cords split today

Finally had some time this afternoon to get some splitting done on one of my piles of rounds. Here is the results of today's work.......roughly 2.6 cords split and stacked.

It was a gorgeous day today for sure......Right around 50 degrees and sunny, it doesn't get much better for splitting. Working out there today made me glad I decided to wait until the weather cooled off to start splitting rather than doing it when it was 90 degrees. I told my wife I might have to be sick one day this week so I can get the rest of it split up The next batch will take a bit longer though because I am almost out of stacking area and will have to work on clearing a new section to stack on.

I only ask because that's the same trailer I have (it IS a 5x10', right?), and loose thrown and mounded I can only fit 1/3 cord/load.
Still, 3 of those in a day is quite a feat....... I'd be dead.
Your helper reminds me of my granddaughters.
I hope she got a hot cocoa or something for helping.

No face cords around here...... Lol! In the last picture that double row of wood is just shy of 27 feet long, the wood was 18" and it is stacked in a double row between 4.5-5 foot high. My best educated guess I that there is right around 2.5 cords there.

My trailer is the same one you have but i am stacking it tight on the trailer an it is 3 to 3.5 foot high in the center. It was right about three trailers full plus some change and my back is feeling sore tonight for sure!

Lol... Now that's being a little generous there is some 16" and smaller pieces mixed in there and I didn't get out the tape measure to make sure the height was level all the way across the stacks.

I meant to say earlier that I agree with you when you loose stack wood on that trailer it is amazing how little wood it will hold. I have been really happy with my trailer otherwise an it has held up really well to the abuse I regularly give it.

Why not? I do.
That's how I know how much wood I have and how much I've used.
Keeps me from putting up TOO MUCH wood for the year.
It's still an impressive amount of work for one guy and a small helper.

Got the rest of it dug out from under the leaves, cut what needed cut, split what needed to be split, and stacked all of it. Once I started digging under the leaves there was a bit more there than I expected and I ended up with 2 little trailers piled high. Now I just have to find something to do with all the uglies, I hate dealing with the uglies......

I do keep and burn the uglies I just don't like dealing with them....... I have tried putting them on the top of my stacks but it makes it a pain to get the roofing leveled up so I kind of gave up on that idea. I did see on here where someone made an uglies bin out of pallets and I am thinking of doing that. I just need to find the time.......

I have a separate bin inthe garage where I keep a stash of chunks/uglies, I burn 'em on the weekends when I'm home

I hear ya'...The little bastage pieces are a PITA. However, they DO burn.
So, there's that.
I've got a bunch of chunky/ugly pieces I cut out in the woods, but haven't made much of an effort to get 'em to the stacks. Probably after I get the bigger rounds done.

That's some nice work Certified106. It's a nice feeling afterwards isn't it . I keep my uglies on pallets in the woods. One pallet per year. Seems to be working okay. I will be burning my first ugly next year. BTW, nice selection in (mules) tractors
