Got a nice load of Walnut

My friend Pete hooked me up with a nice load of Walnut, and of course some Pallets
Free wood is good , good friends, priceless

How much wood can/do you haul in that trailer?

It's only 3000lb axle ,usually I haul about a half a cord , over loaded it the other day though with some oak, only had to go 2 1/2 mi.

I'm thinking of letting "big red" (my 96 f-150 wood hauler) go down the road to another home, and considering a 5x8 dump trailer to replace it to pull behind my suv. Was curious to see what other folks were moving with a truck bed sized trailer.

Now feel really lucky ,out back I have ,Red Oak, White Oak, Red Maple , Ash, Hickory , Mulberry ,Sugar Maple, Silver Maple ,Poplar, some Pine, Elm, Box Elder , Oh and a little apple

Same problem here

This year is about 85% locust, I considered (or maybe I did) installing a security system to protect my 3 year seasoned assets!

It is a 5X 10 tilt bed, some times I do this and roll em out, I wish I had a double axle

You're getting very attached to your firewood. Just don't start naming them, it makes it harder to burn them.

I have lot's of walnut. Walnut everywhere. The stuff ain't the best but it sure does split easy, seasons well, burns nice, and smells good.

I like my Walnut. Sure its not no Oak or Hedge or Locust, but we dont always need long hot fires either. I love the smell of fresh walnut, when splitting it, the ease of splitting it. You've done good, in the right conditions it should be ready next year.

Walnut doesn't put out the heat of oak or locust, but mixing with hardwoods or for shoulder season it's pretty good. It does split really easy in my experience and I've heard it seasons in a year.

red oak, white oak, chestnut oak, hickory, locust, mulberry, ash, rock/sugar maple.....all stuff in my piles, and all stuff I'd rather have than walnut

However, I DO have a lot of walnut, it's just happens to be a lot of it on my land here, and indeed, I DO burn it for sure! Smells great, splits easy, and burns well, but it ain't the best.
