Woke up this morning at 6:30am and loaded four 16" splits in the Oslo onto the coals left over from the nights burn (outside temps were a chilly 43). Came home from work, took the dog for a walk, ran some errands blah blah. When I returned home around 6:00pm I go to the stove to empty the ash pan and I notice I still have usable coals! I wasnt going to light a fire cause its only suppose to drop to about 40-45 tonight but the were calling for wood! Needless to say im sure this wont happen when the temps drop really low but I got a kick out of it!
Contrary to the post title, the shoulder season really sucks when you have a new stove...i need to CONSERVE my wood, its just so hard to not fire it up and "get any kinks out" as I have been telling my wife
