Guess The Maple

Well it's mine now! But I'm not sure if it's big leaf. The leaves are somewhat large.

Not silver, silver has a "flaky" bark.

Red Maple is my vote. It doesn't come down far enough between the lobes to be Silver.

Bark does not look like Silver or Sugar, and the tree isn't hideously deformed like Big Leaf here seem to be. And don't ever bet against nrford!!

The leaf more resembles Bigtooth maple but the range is different for that species but here are the 2:
Bigtooth maple (species it most resembles)
Acer grandidentatum N.
Or~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bigleaf maple
Acer macrophyllum P.

Is this a wild tree or planted? If it's wild, it can only be bigleaf. None of the others has a distribution anywhere near Tacoma.

It was wild. Very straight trunks.

Whatever it is, I have tons of it. My guess is that it's around a 20-22m BTU wood. Not bad. Not great. But grab it when its free. Next year a good 30% of my wood is this maple.

Processed a red maple last year. The bark looks similar to this one, but not the leaves.

What color is the fall foliage?
if the leaves are turning yellow, it's a Norway
