Well it's mine now! But I'm not sure if it's big leaf. The leaves are somewhat large.

I say silver.

Not silver, silver has a "flaky" bark.

Red Maple (Soft)

Bark does not look like Silver or Sugar, and the tree isn't hideously deformed like Big Leaf here seem to be. And don't ever bet against nrford!! ;)

The leaf more resembles Bigtooth maple but the range is different for that species but here are the 2:
Bigtooth maple (species it most resembles)
Acer grandidentatum N.
Or~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bigleaf maple
Acer macrophyllum P.

Is this a wild tree or planted? If it's wild, it can only be bigleaf. None of the others has a distribution anywhere near Tacoma.

It was wild. Very straight trunks.

I'm going with Norway..Sure looks like the ones I have in Illinois...
What color is the fall foliage?
if the leaves are turning yellow, it's a Norway
