I went to home depot this morning to get some floor trim and there were orange carts lined up filled with pellets with happy people behind them. They had the look of relief. It was nice to see.
I never burned green supreme so I picked up two bags. $4.68 per

I've burned several tons of them ( 10 tons plus ) ashy but burn great for me . Love the price ! I'll be stocking up on them again this year . Have burned several different brands . Best bang for my buck .

Ashy is an Understatement isn't it.
I guess being a member of the pellet Pig Club isn't what it used to be.

I tried a few bags of the GS, during the pellet drought. Ashy does not describe them. I went almost a ton of Black Hills before emptying the ash bin on my p61. 10 bags ofGreen had the ash bin almost overflowing.

Just finished burning my fifth and final bag of Green Supreme which was my first experience with them. Although my P68 will burn anything, it will not burn these again. A lot of ash and a lot more of the black carbon build up on the burn plate which takes a fair amount of effort to scrape off. It was just an experiment.

I'm not saying these are a top shelf pellet . I was given 10 tons as a gift from my farther in law . In his words to
( keep his babies warm ) . They were purchased for less than 180.00 a ton ( with a military discount ) plus no charge for delivery . Up until that point I was what you may call a pellet snob ( only burned oaks and Vermont's for the most part )
I found them to be very ashy but gave of good heat ( not great ) but good . Glass gets dirty fast ! I still only clean the stove once a week ( no clinkers )
I would buy them again and plan to buy at least 6-8 tons of them this year along with 4 tons of something else .
I know most people turn their noses up at them but for me they work . Not to mention a big savings over other brands of more than $1000.00 a year .
I had a friend try them and hated them had the black film and frequent shut downs ( has the same stove as me ) only difference being he had a shorter pipe . All of my stoves run a full chimney length . Not saying anyone should buy these or any other pellet ( always try before you buy !! )

I couldn't agree more. Try before you buy. That is why I never buy less than 5 bags for a trial. I could never really evaluate performance on just 2 or 3 bags. And everybody's stoves are different. And never underestimate the retailers ability to store them in a dry environment. This storage issue has not been a factor this winter, since retailers are selling them within a few hours of receiving them. But in normal winters, that is not always the case.

When I joined I aspired to be a member of the Pellet Pig Club. But I decided on Quality not Quantity. I see you also burn Vermonts. You must surely have seen the difference. I believe many here would pay for the quality and still save .

Yes I see a difference . But not a 100-150 ton difference ! I burn over 12 tons a year so it adds up fast . It's like my dad always says " if we all liked the same thing what a boring world it would be ! " and me I like saving money !!
I only burn the Vermont's when we get below zero .

Picked up 20 bags of gs on Friday at worcester lowes. This batch seems pretty good not as ashy and heat is good .

Batch is the key according to all the posts... I have a co-worker that has burnt nothing but GS and agrees it is a bit more maintenance cleaning wise, but puts up with it for the savings per ton. I have used Ambiance and GT Platinum and do see a difference when compared to to the GT. I'm burning the GT now and in a week or so will burn through the GS once again in my stack. Looking forward, I would like to get the Ambiance, maybe 3 or 4 ton and the balance from a BBS. I would also like to try out Le Crete.

This is my second year burning pellets. I started with 2 tons of Currans from my local stove shop. I got some pretty significant hard build up. I used 1.5 tons of Green Supreme from the Lowes in Concord and was thrilled at the end of last year. I bought 5 tons of Green Supreme over the summer, and those were great. I ran out of pellets, and bought 4 more tons (I thought 2 would be enough, but figured with the delivery price no matter how many tons I get, I might as well as much as would fit in my basement. This delivery is not as good as the previous delivery. I bought them just before the pellet shortage, so I wonder if that had something to do with it.

This delivery has more ash and more hard build up.

My stove (Kinderhook) has a huge ash pan, and I can usually put in 2 tons of pellets through it before having to empty the ash pan.

I just bought a used Kozi KSH for my garage. I like that it has (like the Kinderhook) has a 3 bag hopper, but it has a very small ash pan, so that might be annoying.

I'll have to decide what to do about pellets next year - I can see the fines in the bag, so I might just look at them before ordering. I also heard from a friend that Lowes will price match to Walmart, so I will try that. I've been happy with the $223/ton price, including delivery, but if it can be lower, than even better...

Western PA to Concord Lowes is a bit of a hike... The GS is ashy and has a hard build up as you say. I can get Ambiance for $5.83 a bag or Le Crete for $6.33 a bag - includes delivery. I'm looking for 4 ton of the good stuff and 2 ton of whatever. I'm inclined to stay away from GS for the whatever. I did like the Green Team from Lowes however.

Black carbon is an understatement. With some pressure, I think you can make a diamond from the stuff.
