got an issue ... Harman accentra freestanding ..2006 ...I replaced the auger motor last week( was clunking and plastic gears were toasted) , distribution blower a few weeks ago (was spent) ... running great but every once in awhile I hear this popping or clunk ....... I am wondering if the auger could be warped? or is this possibly due to longer pellets ? running new England hardwood ....

I get a popping noise every once in a while when an extra long pellet gets snapped during feeding. It seems harmless.

That is the feed mechanism and is totally normal.

well it is a new ... been running this one since 2006 ... (Harman replaced the one I bought in 2004) ... I have a Harman accentra insert in my living room and a lopi pellet in my basement ... never heard this particular "pop" before ....

thanks tsmith ... I looked at this batch of pellets and while I am no pellet inspector but I have burned 3-5 tons a year past decade and these seem "longer" ...well I gots me sum wrenches if something worse happens LOL

thanks ..... I am going with that!

If it is the old style, check the chain and sprockets, may have to sit and watch for a while. Also check end of auger for carbon build up.

hain may have to go several revolutions before bind, like a motorcycle chain. Many posts on this site about hard carbon buildup on end of auger causing squeaks and pops.I guess it rubs on burn pot.

So THAT"S what that is! How did you figure that out -- install an Auger Cam?

This Harman seems pretty nice but it makes more different noises than my digestive tract after four burritos...

Sorry, no cam footage to show you. Here in the west we get high quality Douglas Fir pellets. Some of the pellets are more than 2" long. If you take one and break it half with your fingers it makes nearly the same snapping sound. The stove seems to amplify the sound as well.

ten years burning pellets ..never had this sound but I was able to watch it happen tonight .... what a lucky man .... so it is NOT carbon build up .... I keep seeing the pellets as LONGER than I can recall .... it is jarring and I watched the chain go round and round .... I am glad to be getting the end of burn season .... for many reasons ..... I changed the oil on the bike and the very next day we get almost 3 inches of snow ........

and yeah the amplification is not calming!
