Hi everyone,
I'm in Idaho and moved into an older house. It has a HUGE upstairs master bedroom. That master is probably 600-900 sq ft. It has 7 HUGE Windows floor to ceiling height about 3.5 ft wide. It also 7 other Windows throughout.It is poorly insulated, has massive air leaks and isn't hooked up to the furnace, it has electric baseboard heating. We had electric bills in the $200-300 range the last two months. The wife constantly complains about it.

So, I shot out to California and scored a harman accentra 2 for $1000. I got it up the stairs, cleaned it and hooked up some selkirk venting from a box hardware western store. No OAK installed. It took a few minutes to ignite. Once it did it leaked everywhere thru the venting. This stuff was junk.the room was smoked out!! I put silicone high temp gasket caulk in the joints before use. So.... I tried to seal the leaks, but it leaked out of other spots. Then I realized the whole co2 factor in a bedroom... ughhh....

So...I returned that garbage venting and i am about to pull the trigger on 4 inch ICC EXCELL venting. I'm hooking the adapter/increaser into clean out, up vertical 5 ft run, into 90, into 3ft horizontal run through thimble that is mounted into window slot that I filled with wood 3x6s. I was also going to put in an OAK. This setup is gonna cost me $750 wtf. I could get duravent pro on ebay for a bit cheaper but don't want any more headaches.

Also the burnpot made a layer of a stinky type resin that smells like ass. This resin filth also got on the compass above the burn pot. The beer police, aka my wife wasn't happy.

So... im worried about co2. I'm hoping the OAK and co2 detectors will solve that along with minimal use if at all while sleeping.

I'm about to be $2000 deep on a stove that only stinks at this point.
My head hurts from searching the web and I'm wondering if I should sell the pellet stove and get a wood stove or something else...

My first thought is that you don't need 4" Pellet vent for about 8 feet of run.
Why spend the extra for the increaser & the larger diameter if it isn't needed.
Excel 3" PV is a quality product & should be all you need
Secondly, I would have fired up a used unit out in my driveway - with venting
attached - in order to avoid the smoke in the house, but that's 20 - 20 hindsight.
Also, firing it in the driveway would allow you to get the unit hot & possibly anable
you to get the creosotew off the insides more easily.
An OAK is DEFINITELY needed in an older drafty home. Otherwise the combustion
air will be drawn in through ANY place it can, creating cold drafts.

It looks as though a 90 degree adds 5 ft on the run length. So I have a 90, another 90 at the clean out, adds a 45 at the end. That shoots me to about 20 ft. If u go over 15 ft you are supposed to use 4 inch. At least that's what a manual says and also a dealer.

Also, does anyone have a manual for the accentra 2. I'm using a accentra manual

Yes, I now realize it isn't supposed to go into sleeping area. Thus, I'm sitting at a Y in the road. Do I move forward with this stove project, or do I lick my wounds and get rid of stove A's continue to listen to wife complain?

Bedroom is 700 square feet? Damn...how big is the bathroom? 5 car garage?

Your Accentra-2, sounds like a free standing, not an insert?

If you have smoke etc coming into the room, unless the stove was dropped off the back of a pickup truck at speed, the problem should be coming from the vent joints and / or the gaskets themselves. For your setup, as you've explained it, 3" venting of at least Type L or better should be sufficient. With correct joint caulking and possibly silicone tape you should be able to eliminate all of the problem smoke from escaping the vent.

Got all of the needed active CO2 detectors? Got active smoke detectors? Got a fire extinguisher handy? With a room that big I don't think the "do not install in a bedroom" applies, though I'm not an expert on any of this. Me? I'd have one in the space if needed, and not worry about the installation. I own a house that's not quite 1000SF. Would installing a pellet stove into the adjoining room cause issues?

You do need an OAK. Makes all the difference. The OAK will not eliminate the CO2 problem. Get the joints sealed.

Re-reading that, we need a picture of the installation. Because we like pictures.
