Harman cleaning question

I just picked up a p68, pictures to follow soon on the install. Stocking up on some maintenance supplies. What do you guys use to clean out the three inch diameter exhaust where the esp is located? I ordered a sooteater to handle the 4 inch venting but need something smaller to clean the probe and around it and avoid damaging it.

Take it out and use a damp napkin.

Toothbrush taped on a stick. When it's removed we have a bottle cleaning brush that can get threw to the main venting. Can be found at resteraunt supply stores or farm store for cleaning milkers. Works good to do a sweep of the rest of the interior when cool too.

For regular cleaning I use a finch feeder (bird feeder) cleaning rod. It's 2' long with a 2" diameter, 5" long soft bristle brush on the end. It pushes the ash out without ever touching the ESP. After removing any ash I will lightly touch the ESP with the soft bristles to remove any loose ash on the probe. A couple of times during the heating season I will carefully remove and clean the probe.

For regular cleaning I use a finch feeder (bird feeder) cleaning rod. It's 2' long with a 2" diameter, 5" long soft bristle brush on the end. It pushes the ash out without ever touching the ESP. After removing any ash I will lightly touch the ESP with the soft bristles to remove any loose ash on the probe. A couple of times during the heating season I will carefully remove and clean the probe

Same here with the 2' Soft brush....
I also use it [gently] to clean the ESP After I have pushed out the ash...
I don't see any reason to pull the ESP out all the time unless it's gunky..For me anyways.
I shine a strong flashlight on it and still looks good.
I think soft bristle brushing it during every 10 days or so while doing stove maint cleaning keeps it from getting any build up.

I yanked out the esp just to see how easy it is. Not bad but harder than I thought. My hands are a bit big. Thanks for the suggestions.

I only pull out and clean once at the end of the season. If the stove starts consuming more than the average amount of fuel between monthly or 1 ton cleanings I shut down and brush off the ESP. Been a working practice for two seasons.
