What temperature does the P61 idle at? I'm trying figure out at what a what point I should turn it off. Mine on 1 runs at 270ish which makes it to hot above 35ish outside.
I have about 300F on the side near the top on my P43 as low as it will go in room mode. What temperature does the P61 idle at? I'm trying figure out at what a what point I should turn it off. Mine on 1 runs at 270ish which makes it to hot above 35ish outside.
I stand about 4 feet in front and aim it at the flame.Just started my comparison checks, let you know once I get some time into it
Where do you take you temps from on the stove?
surprised u get enough heat at such low feed numbers. have same P61A..Too hot - LOL. I don't run my stoves run continuously unless it is in the single digits - or low teens with high winds. even then, I run at a feed rate of 0.5-1.0. If it is in the negative numbers, especially negative teens, then I run at 1.0-1.5.
That is why I normally use room temp/auto. This time of year, especially if the sun is shining, they may not run at all from 10am until 7-8 pm.
It gives me a good idea though, thanksNot the best day to try the temp at idle here temperature has gone from -2 to +10c
On 1 room temp feed 4 was 290f
As long as it's the same place, it doesn't mean much. It's the difference that I look at. I move mine a foot and there's a 10f difference. I use the centre of the flame as the hot spot. You can usually tell with out even measuring it, because there's a ball of fire going on in there. This is my 3rd season with it and I've never seen it do it before. In fact it's been a real piece of chit this winter.Ok you should be aiming it at the heat exchangers, the glass distorts the true temperature. I’ve always gone dead center of the heat exchangers on the metal between 4 and 5
Cleaning out the exhaust from the inside?. No. I have from the outside. When I changed the blower out I separated it at the pipe, cleaned the old ESP, the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe. When I clean it now I pound on the bracket that holds the bowl, pop the little cover off and stick my fingers in there. Where the ignitor should be.Have you ever done the leaf blower trick on it? Can’t remember if it’s been asked

"Laser temperature guns (infrared thermometers) use emissivity settings to accurately measure surface temperatures, with most standard, non-adjustable units set to 0.95 for common materials. For shiny, reflective metals (low emissivity), adjustable emissivity guns are necessary, as standard guns often fail or show inaccurately low temperatures"As long as it's the same place, it doesn't mean much. I just had my 2 story, 1924 un-insulated house done few weeks ago. all 4 exsterior walls had the pink cellulose blown in between each 12-14" studs from the outside.. also had baffles of same tucked in the attic and then 12 inches of loose blown in on attic floor. in my basement they blew few inches of spray foam inside the rim joist all around perimiter..... has made a remarkable difference and has raised my inside temps 10 degrees or more so pellets or oil consumpmtion will be much lower next season... have hot water baseboards but would previously consume rediculous amount of oil and heat would just go right out the walls,, house had zero insulation prior.P61a is in the 650 sq/ft basement. Since it no longer has to heat up the block walls or concrete floor (or main floor), it doesn't take much to heat it.
However, this winter I had to also heat the 13x24 under-house, uninsulated garage for about 1.5 months. Just left the entry door open - stove is way over in the opposite corner with the stairway in between. I think there were less than 10 of those days that I had to switch from using the thermostat. I have a remote temp sensor about 5' from the overhead door and my goal was to keep it at 40 or above. it did take some oomph from the stove to raise the temp from 33*. but once it got the 3 tons of pellets warmed up (thermal mass), it actually did well.
Helps that I don't have to open the overhead door during winter except when transferring the snow blower in/out of the garage. It ain't tall enough to get my Explorer in (nor is the door wide enough, even if it was tall enough).
That's what I like to hear. 👍The Maxx is a heat monster. Heats my poorly insulated shop with no fuss or muss
Yes, they may not be as good as a Harman, but they have a lot fewer bells and whistles
There are a few people here who feel Enviro stoves are a better buy. Just my nickel's worth
ThanksToo bad you’re way over there or I’d buy your P61…best of luck
It's just about half the price of the Harman. and no waiting to get one.The Maxx is a heat monster. Heats my poorly insulated shop with no fuss or muss
