Harman P68 - Window gets black

Second season with my Harman P68. I've noticed this year that the stove window gets real black, real quick. Within a day or so it's pretty filthy. Using somersets from Menards.

Just started using the stove a week or so ago and I cleaned it pretty well last spring. Could it be the pellets? Something else?

Yes, took vent brush and rant it through the entire piping, inside and out.

I was referring to if letting the stove burn on higher burn rate or barely making heat.

Yep was thinking airflow issue as well. Not sure if the p68 has an air wash system but if it does make sure that is clear and the last thing I would do is try a different pellet just to compare.

It's the pellets and/or the likelihood it hasn't been run hard yet. Unless there's a problem with your stove, likely a cleanliness issue, those are the only causes for prematurely/exceedingly dirty glass.

My likely guess is it isn't running hard. My xxv would do the same thing. The lower heat output would always run dirtier. My quad now does the same.

Yep, make sure the combustion fan is free and clear, the venting is free and clear, get quality pellets and let it rip on high for an entire night.....

Also, if it's humid there, and the pellets sat in there all summer, You may have some moisture issues. Long shot, but not impossible

I would try an air compressor and blow out the air wash tubes real good.

That was one of the complaints I had about the Somersets last year. Ashy and made the glass black!

Its just inside the fresh air inlet. Just a light piece of metal loosely hanging but is known to stick closed. Just a poke with your finger should move it.

these things don't really like to burn at an idle....they do burn dirtier that way.....other than that, could be cleaning......

Sorry, not sure how to access it. Do one of the panels in the back need to come off? I've heard it flapping (although can't recall recently), but never seen it.

My glass has been dirtier as well. I also think it's because it's been running on low too much. When it has to work a little harder I bet you'll see a difference. I wouldn't worry too much. Pellet is probably pretty dense. Can't really regulate the Harmans much, maybe try lowering the feed rate a bit.

Um... Don't think so. Where is that located>

Its located directly behind the control panel above the room air fan, view is from below. Careful, there are some sharp edges.

Is the fines box also on an xxv? I don't recall seeing it. Just want to be sure I'm cleaning my stove right.
