Hello all I've got a great running Harman Invin, It did not come with a probe as it was a used stove, the stove revs up and just runs at full speed or close to it. I put the the probe in front of the heater area and it still wont satisy and kick the stove down. Any ideas ? It is on thermostat mode at level 2 on temperature. Flame operates smoothly and is consistent with the1-7 dial in stove mode.

Thanks all I'm quite confuzzled.

Not knowledgeable enough on the subject, but surprised no one has chimed in yet with a few recommendations.

If your user name is any indication you have an Invincible "T" model. If that is correct, they don't use a room probe, they use an ordinary thermostat.
If you are not sure if you have a "T" or "RS" type invincible, here's an easy way to tell: as you face the front of the stove, if the controls are on the left and have a mechanical dial for a feed adjuster, it is a "T". If the controls are on the right and have a little plastic knob for a feed adjuster, and the feed adjuster has a numbered scale and a "test" position, then you have an "RS"

Hello to all and Happy New Year,

I'm also a newbie and bought and installed and Invincible insert. It came with the probe but when I change to that setting it goes into error mode. It seems to run fine on stove temp mode. since it is just a simple 2 wire probe, can a regular 2 wire heating thermostat be used?

On another note the burned ash seems to come off the edge of the burn pot a bit clumpy. I'm currently using American Wood Fiber Premium hardwood as it's what I was able to find on short notice. Got it from Agway. I made my boys take my dually to pick it up. No place else local had pellets in stock at the time, I will load before fall next year.

I am not familiar with the Invincible but the probe (2 wire) on our
P61 is just a thermistor(Resistance changes with temperature).
The control board wants to have the same resistance on this thermistor
and the resistance set up by the thermostat on the stove.
By adjusting the temp setting you are causing a resistor imbalance and the control
board either ramps the stove up or down until the resistance is the same again.

If I am wrong about this function, someone will speak up.
Hope my rambling helps. The error code could be caused by a bad probe.
If I unplug it while in room temp mode, the stove goes into error mode.

Ok excellent, based on your information I most certainly have a "T" as the dials are on the left and it has a mechanical feed adjusting dial. What type of thermostat can I use ? Thanks so much !

Pretty much any low voltage thermostat will do. Harman usually recommends Honeywell for what it's worth.

no positive or negative. Thermostat is just a switch, it either closes the loop (on) or opens the loop (off).
