Harman won't shut down

Harman P61A -2. Bought the house with the stove in Sept 1913 and history is unknown.

Been 4 hours now and the auger is still going and the flame is small but still a flame. I believe I have to let it go until it runs out of pellets.

Now the question, I am not that handy with electrical things and would probably have to have a house call. Can I just let it run out of pellets, pull the plug and do the cleaning, fill the hopper and start it up again manually? Having the board looked at later?

The stove has been running great on room temp / manual.

The reason your stove won't shut down is because it's in manual. Change it to auto and you will be fine. Go on the Harman website and download the manual.

That's an old Harman, 1913. If you turn it to off, it should still shut down. Wether in auto or manual.

I feel like an idiot! I have read the manual about 10 times and refer to it constantly. I did not even think about the switch. Just turned it to auto and hopefully that will do the trick.

By the way, 1913 was a typo. I bought the house with stove in Sept 2013. I am old but not that old!

I had turned the select knob to off. So I thought it would turn off. After reading the replies to my question, I realized it needed to be on auto, not manual.

Oh ok, I understand now. I think it should turn off no matter what mode you are in when you turn the knob to off.

Did you get it to shut down?

Got it to shut down fine with that little change. Then I cleaned it. See other post on my success!

Wish I knew when he was born. Nice add to the stockpile of info on him.

Mine would not shut down after hours in OFF (in December cold too). Pulled the wire off the pressure switch to get it to shut down on its own. Replaced the wire, cleaned the pellet burner and the vent pipe and it shut down normal; just like before. Just got too dirty. I had gone thru 1.5 tons of pellets since the last clean out.
