harmon P61a vent pipe adaptor needed?

I am installing the vent pipe (Duravent) to my stove. It seems to fit directly onto the stoves exaust. Am I supposed to be using a special adaptor here? Also do i need to screw the pipe joints or is the twist and RTV seal ok?

there should be a stove adapter, you should screw the adapter to the stove flange, along with the silicone sealant.

High heat silicone at pipe joints. Same with the adapter that goes onto the rear of your P61. An adapter should be installed! You can not screw it and I would not attempt to. The part that comes out of the rear is cast! You do not screw the pipe together either. PM me if you have questions. Good luck!

BTW, I paid $24 bucks for the correct adapter at my Harman dealer. They burn you on pipe prices but so does anywhere else because you need them.

Note: Some stoves have cast pipes that you attach to and I was told to use high heat silicone only by my dealer. Some stoves may have steel exhausts you attach to and I am not sure about screwing those. I would NOT try to screw into the cast on your P61!

I think you will find several people here who have installed the Duravent pipe to the stove without the adapter. The inner pipe fits quite tight to the inside of the cast iron flange and looks seamless looking in there. They RTV it up and stuff it on there, then coat the outside with RTV or tape. No screws.. I had two dealers tell me to do it this way actually till I informed them there is an adapter for this. And I do not recall the part number off hand, sorry. It's Harman specific though.

I have to imagine the adapter route is the preferred way. It's just the "right way" to do it.

I did as the dealer said to do and that was to RTV it in but I was insecure of it and made a clamp assembly to secure it to stove.

A 3" band clamp for truck exhaust would work fine. I didn't bother, I can't imagine this pipe falling off. In fact I can't imagine getting this pipe off if I ever need to !
