Have Some Greenheart Wood

My cousin is a commercial diver for the dockbuilders union. He got some wood chunks for me. He says they use these pieces for shimming pilings. I've read up on this stuff and it's a beast. It's heavy as all hell. Weird smell too. Couple old threads on here about it but they are locked. I'll use it for firewood if I have to but is there anything else I can do with it?

I say burn it or possibly use it for landscaping. It could be Black Locust.

Um..My BIL just replaced a clutch in an old tractor of mine. We used blocking like that to pull the tractor in half. I also use those nice squares under the axles for changing tires.
I say keep them. Dont burn them.

You may want to replace your own brakes someday. They are safer than jacks.

You could split 'em in half and use them under pallets, so your pallets don't rot. Not as good as concrete blocks, but might last a few years...

Most heavy duty cribbing is made from Oak.

This stuff makes oak look like pine in comparison. If there's anyone near me they are welcome to a piece. I'm on the Jersey shore.

that is greenheart, used in dock building, my son gets me pcs all the time , way denser than oak, be careful splitting, it sometimes explodes , no kidding, just will fly apart

it is not usually treated cause it does not rot, comes from south america
