Having Problem With a B&G Ecocirc Vario Pump

One of my B&G Ecocirc Vario zone pumps seems to be stuck one speed: it can't be adjusted.

Has anyone out there experienced a similar problem? Is it possible to get technical assistance from B&G?

Well, the little plastic adjusting knob broke! Very lame design. Can use a hex key wrench, I suppose. How very lame. Will try to contact someone at B&G or rep tomorrow. Somehow, I'm not optimistic.

I see more new things break than I use to.

Technology is better than 30 years ago. But plenty of examples of saving some money by manufacturers at the cost to the consumer fixing things down the road.

I have enough experience fixing new parts, that should be good to go for years. Offshore labor is not helpful to me, on average.

Is B&G made in North America?

That pump is made in Hungary, but it was apparently designed in Germany.
The part has to be clear plastic to transmit the light from the led to light the arrow. Perhaps if it wasn't so fancy it would have been more robust.
It's a very small piece that makes an otherwise fine pump not so good.
Trying to find a replacement parts I'm sure will be just peachy.

I wish we could get back to made in the USA with pride.

In second place, would be made in Germany by people who are offended if something goes wrong, and will make it right.

So is it too much for super glue or plastic epoxy? Maybe Macgyver a roll pin with a sheet metal screw?

Do you adjust it more often than the allen wrench is useful for?

For me, yes.

My plan is to drill a hole in the plastic pointer and put a cut off hex wrench in that.

My current method is to adjust it with the hex wrench, take it out, and put a piece of clear packing tape over the hole. That way I can see if the light is on, but not what the speed is.
