Get yourself a forestry helmet/eye shied/ear protection all in one.

I do almost no falling, all cleanup and scrounging. I would kinda like one but just can't bring myself to buy one for cutting up firewood.

All i do is cut up logs for firewood, have the Husky helmet with ear muffs, shield and the flap on the back.. use to think same thing but would curse every time i was sawing on a windy day getting all the crap blown in my eyes - seems if its windy it always goes right in my face and down my shirt

anyways Helmet is great at preventing all that
